Household Solid Waste Management (HSWM) Awareness and Applications: A Comparative Study on Urban and Rural Sustainable Practices

Solid Waste Management has been a problem for rural and urban communities. The study aims to provide basis communities improve their awareness, attitudes, practices on solid waste management at household level collaborate with local government units toward effective Household (HSWM) implementation, ordinances, mitigation. A 30-item close-ended assessment 5-item follow-up questions was constructed determine compare the of HSWM between Barangay Bignay, Valenzuela (urban group), Santa Elena, Hagonoy (rural group). data analyzed using One Way Analysis Variance (ANOVA) know significant relationship bases (i.e., practices) in both barangays. Findings showed that awareness HSWM, practices, attitude high area, having p-value 0.003474, lesser than 0.007341. comparisons ANOVA reflecting 0.96 concluded there is difference two groups since it greater 0.50 significance. were determined have positive thus directly affect respondents' applications LGUs implement an SWM program but still needs improvement as these contradict measured practices. suggests stricter implementation orientation barangays programs.
